Ever heard of a colouring book for adults? Many people would even scoff at the idea, calling it childish and immature. But this form of Buddhist art is transforming the lives of people worldwide who are going through the pain of separation, divorce, depression, loneliness, and many other difficult phases in their lives.

Mandala Art form was popularized by Buddhists in India in the early first century CE. The monks created complex designs in geometrical patterns and shapes using sand or fine mud, which was later destroyed to create another complex image. Why would a beautifully created image be destroyed soon after it is created? The answer to this is deep and profound.

Choosing the path of monkhood is not only difficult but also life-transforming. Walking on this path filled with thorns monks needed peace and tranquillity and what better than mandala art to bring back the peace, contentment and clarity in their austere lives?
