Research, Notes, Scribbles, Doodles, a Worn-Out Notebook, and all the Shenanigans that make Me a Writer
A chaotic and witty journey of a writer…
It is not only a universally accepted behavioural pattern that runs across we breed of writers that they are a disorganized lot but also messy. Very rarely will you find a writer whose workplace is neat and clean, well-organized, and methodical, and the same goes for the notebooks that we use to brainstorm ideas and topics.
Thanks to all the digital tools that are available at the touch of a button, these organizers are accessible on our phones and tablets which makes our work easier.
But what about the mental chaos that is going on in our heads, just as we sit down to write and not a word comes out but the blank page of our notebook that is staring at us?
We abandon the thought of brainstorming and start doodling hoping for inspiration to flash, which sadly does not.
Being a writer is like being the ringmaster of a chaotic circus, except all the performers are inside your head and refuse to follow a script. At the centre of this colourful madness lies a sacred toolkit: research, notes, scribbles, doodles, and the trusty (or crusty) worn-out notebook. It’s a glamorous life of inspiration, perspiration, and occasionally crying over…
