Want to achieve excellence? Here are the 10 best ways
Being perfect does not matter but being genuine will make a big difference…
A quintessential quote on Perfection is, “Perfection is Not Attainable, But If We Chase Perfection We Can Catch Excellence”. The section is perfectly worded by the author and showcases human nature which is so fragile, gullible, and fallible. In pursuit of perfection, we lose the larger picture and end up being mediocre performers. Well, all this can change with a little bit of change, in the way we perceive ourselves and our life. Instead of perfecting any one area of life, let us learn the art of being authentic which is being ourselves. While being authentic we only have the choice of doing anything- excellently. Let us do our optimum best and leave the results to unfold on their own.
Even school students look forward to outstanding and excellent grades after all the hard work that they have put into their academics. Our teachers always write their comments after grading us. Suppose a student scores 95/100 in his History or an English assignment paper. In that case, the teacher’s comment will always be ‘excellent performance’ and not ‘perfect performance’ because perfection can never be reached even if the student scores 100/100 on his assignments and there is always room for improvement. In the school of life let us look at the 10 ways we can achieve excellence to achieve happiness and live a fulfilling life
Sarah Lehberger, Social Impact Leader & Passionate Advocate with a Forward-Looking Lens has very effectively put together some valuable lessons for achieving excellence. I have chosen only the 10 best that resonated with me. Here they are:
1. Know yourself and your strengths.
2. Have pride in yourself and your work.
3. Learn something new as you work towards your personal best.
4. Choose to excel despite the level of difficulty.
5. Step outside your comfort zone to do something risky and creative.
6. Forgive yourself for past mistakes or failures so you can learn from them.
7. Speak the truth and let the world know what you stand for.
8. Be brave no matter what the challenge or the obstacle may be.
9. Embrace your authenticity and permit yourself to be you.
10. Show compassion and empathy for others.
Finally, last but not the least, on the path to achieving excellence, we must not forget the important lessons that we will be documenting in our journey and they are, that the daily grind and the mundaneness of life; will pull us down and we must not give up. Achieving excellence is a journey and not a destination. To achieve excellence, we must be ready to embrace learning and discomfort. There will be many obstacles but we must not give up. Lastly, we must give time to our family and our relationships, for who we are today. I end my blog with a noteworthy quote by Greek philosopher Aristotle on excellence which goes, ‘We are what we repeatedly do, and Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.’
